Rich holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in Fitness and Wellness from Tennessee Tech University, and is currently working on his Master’s degree. He is a Certified CrossFit Level 1 Instructor with a completed Coaches Prep Course, and also holds a certification in CrossFit Olympic Lifting.
In 2010, after first place finishes at sectionals and regionals, Rich went on to make his mark in the CrossFit community with a dramatic 2nd place finish at the 2010 CrossFit Games Finals in Carson, CA.  In 2011, after much anticipation through the open sectionals and team regionals, Rich once again forged through the fierce competition in the men’s individuals finals to take 1st place in the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games, earning him the title ‘Fittest Man on Earth.’  Rich defended his title in the 2012, 2013 and 2014 and became the first male competitor to win the title back to back (and of course 3 and 4 times too).
Rich was a baseball player at Cookeville High School from 2001-2005. He was a two time all-district and all-region second baseman along with numerous other team awards. He opted out of two college baseball scholarships to work at the Cookeville Fire Department for over three years while he attended TTU. Rich is married to Hillary and they have a beautiful baby girl named Lakelyn!

Darren is… a Hunsucker and would like for us to add that he goes by “Rich’s cousin”.

His best asset is Jessica.

Darren has competed with the team at Regionals for three years.

Darren enjoys long walks on the beach and is famous for his collection of glass unicorn figurines.

Yvette Clark

Yvette has been active in sports and fitness throughout her life. Growing up in Colorado she played basketball and competed in discus through high school, where she went to state three years in a row.  After high school, she played college basketball at the Colorado School of Mines, while she earned a Chemical Engineering degree.

After completing her undergraduate Yvette moved to Tennessee to start a career at Tennessee Tech University, where she eventually earned a Master’s in Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Always active in sports and fitness she began running marathons and half marathons until she found CrossFit in the Fall of 2008!

Lauren grew up in Chattanooga, TN where she played multiple sports through high school. After high school, she started out playing softball for one year at Tennessee Tech University. After a short sabbatical from college, Lauren returned to TTU and played soccer to finish out her college eligibility while earning a degree in Management Information Systems.

Lauren has coached girls and boys soccer at the recreational level, travel, and at Cookeville High School from 1997-2011. In 2007, Lauren and Yvette started working out together and were eventually introduced to CrossFit. They have been hooked ever since!

Lauren has 3 kids… Caylin who is in college, Ella Jane in middle school and Colin in elementary school. Life stays busy for sure!

Thomas Cox

Thomas Cox played high school and college football in Birmingham Alabama. Has Coached college football for the last 8 years. The last 6 of which have been at Tennessee Tech Univeristy where he coached the Wide Receivers for 2 years and the Offensive Line for 4 years. He is currently on staff at Life Church here in Cookeville. Thomas has competed on the CrossFit Faith competitive team for the last 2 years at Regionals. Once as an individual and once as a member of the team. He has lived in Cookeville for 6 years and has a beautiful wife named Jackie, a spunky girl named Johnna and a mountain of little boy named Teagen.
Thomas and his visor are inseparable!


Nathaniel “Thaniee” Jones

Nathaniel (Thaniee) lived in Brazil until he was four while his parents were missionaries there. They then moved back to Nashville where Thaniee and his two brothers worked on a farm and were homeschooled until college. He became interested in fitness toward the end of high school and was introduced to CrossFit by a friend from church. He is currently attending Tennessee Tech University where he is a senior and double majoring in Exercise Science and Nutrition. At Tech, Thaniee has volunteered for a semester under the strength and conditioning coach, Chip Pugh, and has also helped get various friends involved with CrossFit. His plans involve staying at Tech to get his masters in Exercise Science and seeing what God has in store for him after that.

Todd Strong

Todd has his Bachelors degree in Exercise Science from Tennessee Tech University.

He is very good looking. He loved underwater basket weaving so much, he minored in it through an online program!

Josh Malone

We are still wondering if “Josh Malone” is his real name. Our best guess is that “Josh Malone” is a super hero from another planet, possibly a nicer version of the Incredible Hulk.

Jake holds a BS degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in Pre-Physical Therapy from Tennessee Tech University, and is currently getting his Masters.  After starting CrossFit several years ago at the APC, he has never looked back.  He has also competed with the CrossFit Mayhem team at Regionals.

Jake grew up in Chattanooga, TN going to Boyd Buchanan School K-12.  He played football, basketball, and won a state championship in soccer.  He started at Tech in 2010 and has loved every second of it.  He also works with the University Christian Student Center (UCSC) with Collegeside Church of Christ. He is recently married to his wife Nancy!  Jake’s motto is Love God, Love the Family, and Love the Lost. Never ever give up and live life to the absolute fullest! Accumulate experiences not possessions.

Ben Rogers

Ben Rogers is an exercise science major at Tennessee Tech with a concentration in K-12 physical education. He is from Pleasant View, TN where he graduated from Sycamore High School in 2012. In high school he played basketball and baseball. He also was a state finalist in high jump his junior and senior year. Ben got hooked on CrossFit because of the influence of an old man at church and Nathaniel “Thaniee” Jones. Ben competed with Team Mayhem the past couple years and hopes to do so for the foreseeable future, too.
Ben’s special skills include, but are not limited to:

  • Juggling, up to 5 objects.
  • Solving Rubik’s Cubes quickly
  • Types 85 words a minute, with only 300 errors.
  • And can always guess how many jelly beans are in a jar, even if it’s not right.

His interests are:

  • His family!
  • Proper movement
  • CrossFit
  • Nature
  • And astrophysics

Jordan Johns

CF Level 1, CF Kids, CF Weightlifting, CF Movement & Mobility

Jordan is a fiery redhead with a mostly sunny disposition. Born in Miami, she will always have high hopes for the Miami Dolphins. Jordan enjoys any kind of competition from sports to made up games. Some of her favorite things include, but are not limited to: CrossFit, flag football, cold salsa, Disney princesses, and men with accents. Jordan graduated from Tennessee Tech with a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science – Fitness and Wellness. She is now going to school for Massage Therapy and is excited to see where this journey takes her. Jordan is our CrossFit Kids coach and her kid like personality makes her a perfect fit.

Jessica Fletcher

Jessica has been active in sports and fitness throughout her life. Growing up on a farm in Ionia, Michigan she attended Ionia High school. Throughout the four years she played basketball, volleyball, soccer and ran track. Following high school, Jessica attended Central Michigan University where she obtained a B.S degree in Psychology and Family Development with a minor in Substance Abuse and Treatment. Jessica later furthered her education and became a Nutritional Therapy Consultant and also works at Optimal Health and Performance. Jessica is Darren’s better half! :)
